SIXTH and SEVENTH GRADE DESIGN CLASS
Using her experience as a Graphic Designer, Tanja created an after-school Design curriculum that exposes middle school students to the world of creative problem solving. Students learned to "begin with the end in mind", present concepts and solutions, provide (and receive) constructive feedback, and use technology to implement design solutions.
For the final classroom project, students were to create an original character by beginning with thumbnail sketches, refining their concepts, and reproducing their character with vector based graphic design software. Students' final characters were then printed on T-shirts as a memento of their design experience.
